2020 Lunch Run to “Huggin’ Molly’s”

Rain?  Again?  C’mon, man!
.
The weekend forecast was looking filthy, especially after a beautiful, mild, sunny week, and I was beginning to think I was unable to lead a trip in anything but a blinding rainstorm,  Fortunately, the gods smiled, well, smirked on me a bit, and the day began partly sunny, and thankfully dry as Tami and I piled into the Yellow-Orange submarine and headed to Pike Road Town Hall, our morning rally point.  Tom Densmore was waiting for us there in his shiny silver T-Bird.  We were soon joined by Russell and Cathy, Dan and Mignonne in the Miata, Mike and Linda in their trusty F-150, and finally, to my surprise, Pam braved the iffy weather and brought the GT out for its first 2020 run.

.
Ten intrepid members headed out 110 toward Abbeville and a trip down memory lane at Huggin’ Molly’s.  Russell’s route choice was excellent as always, taking us through Union Springs, midway through Midway, then south through Clio (pronounced klyo to us NFHs) and onto our destination.  With one short break, we were there in roughly two hours, no thanks to an overly careful Mercury Mountaineer driver, who tested my patience as much as they tested their brakes.
.
Abbeville is a charming small town, a county seat, with a well preserved downtown.  Huggin’ Molly’s occupies a former drug store, and is decorated with movie memorabilia and tools of the trade of a drug store/malt shoppe of the 30’s through the ’50s.  Our waitress was attentive and efficient, and our entrees and appetizers were served toot sweet.  Dessert took a bit more time, but not enough to dampen our spirits.
.
Did I mention dampness?  Yeah, it rained on the way back.  More than a sprinkle, but nothing to build an ark about.  Both British cars in attendance can smoothly all 220 miles out so, holding up the British end with pride.  Good folks, good food, good route, good day.
.
Next:  Niffer’s in February, be there or be square.
