2020 Lunch Run to Niffer’s on Lake Martin

The weather forecasters should get a pay raise.  We departed Montgomery under deep blue skies and a mild breeze in the upper 40 degree range.  Our caravan included 15 cars; 10 of which were actual British cars and 4 Eur-Asian sports cars:

  • (1) McLaren 12C
  • (5) MINIs
  • (1) MGA
  • (1) MGBGT
  • (2) TR6s
  • (1) Honda S 2000
  • (1) Mercedes SL 550
  • (1) Miata
  • (1) Thunderbird
  • (1) Domestic SUV

This includes three guests from the River Region MINIs.  We motored over the rain-swollen Tallapoosa River (twice each way) via Wetumpka, Eclectic, and E. Cotton Road to AL 50 (a new stretch of crooked road for many of us), on to the twisties and AL 50 corkscrew around Martin Dam (unimpeded most of the way), arriving at Niffer’s on the Lake at 11am.  [ROUTE]

Orders from the MENU were promptly taken (including one “Niffasaurus”) and quickly filled, as were we all a bit later.  There was lots of socializing over lunch followed by tire-kicking out in the parking lot.  We mostly retraced our steps coming home.

Our monthly drives don’t get much better than this.
