2017 BMC Car Show

October has been a FANTASTIC month and as I write this, we have a few days left. A crispness is finally in the air and it is pleasurable to drive our Little British Ovens once again. Tired Butts 2017 and our 21st British Car day rounded out the month. First, I’d like to talk about some great people, then the cars.

We were very blessed to see the following folks at our car show. It makes me proud to be around them. Don Green and Ron Pardo’s efforts to remain active members of the club and support the show were way above the call and greatly appreciated. I hope everyone got around to visit with them. Then Bobby Gunter arrived unexpectedly, driven by Jon Miller. Those who know Bobby and his love for British cars – especially 100-4 Healeys – were thrilled to see him. Jon has been working on Bobby’s cars and recently completed his gorgeous 100-4 M. This is a dealer prep 1004-4M Bobby has been working on a long time. It was so great to see these folks at the show and appreciate the efforts they made.

On to the Show! Tom Terrific made the day.  Not only was THE ROLLS there, Tom handcranked her and took a much-deserved victory lap. What a great variety of cars in attendance, spanning 94 years of British auto manufacture.  From that magnificent Rolls to 2017 Jags and 2018 MINIs with everything in between. It’s been a while since we had a Morgan attend and even longer since we had a Lotus Europa join us. Blitz and his gangs of workers did great this year. Parking, registration, food, and even voting went very smoothly. I think we need more signs for next year, as poor Brandon manned the gate for us, yet no one followed his directions! Voting under the new award format provided enough variety to ensure the winners were truly the winners. Despite its success, I still feel we need a way to recognize more of our newer cars. So there now, you think on that!
