2016 July 4th Parade/Party/Cookout

The Pike Road Civic and Community Clubs hosted their annual Fourth of July parade in the historic district on Pike Road. Participation in the parade was open to the public.  Again this year, parade participants included fire trucks, 4-wheelers, a large delegation from the Model A club, the British Motoring Club, scout troops, Pike Road honored citizens and dignitaries, equestrians and assorted other cars and floats. The theme for entries was symbols of freedom.  Also present was typical July-style heat and humidity.  This was mitigated by brief passages of some sun-blocking clouds and that the entire parade lasted for all of ten-minutes.

After the parade we met at Blitz and Amanda’s home for an afternoon of food & fellowship.  Even with the large group, there was ample room under the breezy double carport and inside their spacious home.  Blitz was the grill-master — tending to the scrumptious hamburgers and hot dogs at poolside.  Inside, Amanda coordinated the food line with her own dishes as well as favorite  specialties brought by the other club members.  If there was a down-side, it was that there was too much and too many delicious dishes to try them all.

Thanks to all who participated in the parade and special thanks to the Welches for hosting us.
