2015 March Outings

March 21, 2015: The Second Annual BMCM Car Rally is a memory – well, just not yet! Our turnout did not rally enough interest to get started although the first car was scheduled to start at 9:00 and finish at the Young Barn Oyster Bar and Pub. Lets say the announcement of “Start Your Engines” was never bellowed. Between David, Blitz, Russell and Cathy we decided to save the BMCM Car Rally for another day. So, we and made the best of the morning. Blitz improvised a quick route – actually not so quick and a nice drive – to the “Southern Comfort” restaurant in Hope Hull https://www.facebook.com/SouthernComfortRestaurantAlabama for excellent barbeque. After lunch we headed home to get after those weekend projects.

March 28, 2015: Tinkers Day at Hamer’s Shop:  So, what if Hamer opened his shop for us to preform repairs on our British cars and all of our cars are looking and running perfectly?  Well, it turns out that we had a shop full of spectators and “free-advice-givers” but no clients — not even to add antifreeze on this last cold day until fall. Earl did share photos of his nearly completely restored Alpine with rebuilt engine, due to be married the following week.  Somehow, we spent 3-hours keeping our hands clean and enjoying some excellent company.  With no hopes of any sick British cars showing up, we adjourned to the mostly VW car show at Pierce Automotive on Old Pike Road.  We kicked those tires for a while then found something we COULD do.  We had lunch at No Way Jose’s.  Amanda, Candace and Cathy joined us there making the day a complete success.
