2014 Christmas Party

Merry Christmas!

It was our
British Motoring Club of Montgomery’s Christmas
and we’ve waited a year
The members arrived ready for cheer.
The gifts were aligned by the tree with care
In all hopes the contents this year would be fair.
Our turnout was grand the dishes superb
We caught up on the year mostly undisturbed.
As our members were seated and our prayers complete
We all settled in and began to eat.
The Needham for Mac and the Canavan for Andy
both looking forward for an “At a Boy” brandy.
As the night came to a close with our gifts in hand
We gave our final hugs with more parties planned.
With our sports cars humming we then drove out of sight
Merry Christmas y’all and to y’all a good night!

The BMCM Christmas party was an astounding success. We can’t thank Pam and her crew enough for doing a spectacular job pulling our membership together providing just an awesome dinner. Our annual get together is also a great opportunity for all of us once again to celebrate the commonality of owning a British car (well mostly British) and strengthen our comradely.
Our usual gift exchange went off as expected. One of the best gifts was the Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer kit for a car and of course, the one that got away – that darn floor jack!
Our evening was toped off by the presentation of the Needham and Canavan Awards. At the end of each year, awards are presented to members who most exemplify the aims of the British Motoring Club — the Canavan award, starting in 1996 and donated by Mike & Jan Canavan when they returned to England, for most improved car(s), and the Needham award, beginning in 2003 and donated by George & Kathi Needham, recognizes a member for club participation. Recipients receive their awards at the year-end Christmas party and keep the award at home until it is returned for the next winner.  [See past recipients HERE]
This year the Canavan award went Andy Martin. Andy rebuilt no less than two motors for his TR-6. The Needham award went to Mac Walker for his continued participation in our club events in spite of a challenging year.
In closing out our year we must thank our BMCM officers – Bob, Pam and Andy; appointed board members – David, Blitz, Russell, and Brandon for keeping our car club on track. And thanks to our committees – Web site, Russell; Newsletter, Roland and Doris and finally our Librarian, Andy. A special thanks to our membership without which there would not be a BMCM. Have a Happy Holiday Season – Merry Christmas and Happy New Year for 2015.
